While building The Indie List, we have been hugely encouraged not just by the people who have supported us but especially by a brilliant community of freelancers. We’ve met some great people who exude ‘the indie spirit’ – that belief in their own abilities to carve an independent path and earn a living without the safety net of full-time employment. That comes from self-awareness, experience and an enterprising mindset.
We’d love you to help us showcase the Indie Spirit using your own set of unique talents.
Here’s the brief
Use your creative, strategic, digital or other talents to champion “the Indie Spirit” – that restlessness and frustration in people that has encouraged many to forge their own path.
The execution is completely up to you – it could be a piece of advertising, a strategy, a script or storyboard, an artistic creation, or maybe even an activation or stunt. But it must be a big idea designed to get talked about in the marketing industry and beyond. Think big but remember, it has to be something a brand like ours (i.e., one built on a shoestring) can feasibly pull off!
This is a unique opportunity to enhance your profile as a professional freelancer at the top of your game. The range of submissions will be assessed by five of Ireland’s most talented Irish marketing leaders who have been centrally involved in the creation and commissioning of work to build incredible brands:
We thought about a trophy, a cash prize or maybe even a special skills-enhancement bursary for the winner but we felt none of them reflected the true Indie Spirit. Instead, what we’ve managed to get is lunch with a globally-renowned and respected individual. Bob Geldof truly epitomises the spirit of independence, which he has demonstrated through his words, his work and his deeds at a global level. So, it’s lunch in London with Bob Geldof, on us. We’ll fly you and a friend over. Put you up in a cool ‘indie’ Air BNB, feed you and send you off to an indie gig that evening. Bragging rights and stories for your mates also included.
Entries are open now and will remain so until August 13th, so you have 6 weeks to get your creative or strategic juices flowing. Judging happens in early September and we’ll arrange a suitable date with Bob and the winner to meet up in London after that. You can enter as often as you like. You can create something solo or collaborate with another freelancer if you so wish. But your work must be original, previously unpublished and you must provide permission for it to be used by The Indie List in follow-on PR. The full set of rules and T’s & C’s are available from Úna or Peter by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
